Velvet touch!

It’s all about the 5 senses this season…. Well not quite, they have yet to design a dress that smells. Unless you count Lady Gaga’s meat attire, which I’m sure after about 30mins would have stank.

This blog I am referring to the feel sensation, where Velvet is top of the table in terms of touch. Velvet feels expensive and exquisite against your skin. I almost wish I could wear velvet Pjams!

When it comes to velvet, there are no rules. Black velvet is sleek and minimalist, but coloured velvets are making a comeback too. Coloured velvets in burgundy wine, forest green and midnight blue are personal favourites and perfect for the romantic feel of winter.

One of the designers who stood out for velvet this season was Alexander Wang, who used beautifully coloured velvets in several of his pieces including scarves, tops, trousers and dresses. Velvet was in nearly half of his ensembles, signalling that it's a staple for this winter. He showed off velvet in colours too. Although there was lots of black, there were also some wine and midnight-blue coloured pieces that add an edgy but romantic vibe.

Transcending that to the high street, here are a few of the shops that I’ve noticed whilst personal shopping that have velvet on their shelves.

- Jasper Conran velvet panelled dress:

- ASOS party dress:

- Hobbs divine jacket:

And boys don’t feel left out. The Velvet one button single breasted jacket is still very much the one this season!

Remember to handle with care…..
