Vogue Fashion Night Out- Hong Kong

Friday night a few girlfriends and I, attended Vogue's Fashion Night Out at the Lane Crawford in Kowloon. There was plenty of fashion and amazing shoes to get excited about. I tried on some red soles, sipped champagne and got some tattoo body art done. The evening was lovely, and it was a complete change to working at the event in London last year!

Brew&Post

Last night a girlfriend and I attended a very swanky launch party for Brew&Post at the W hotel. It was an event to celebrate the new online platform of a collective of renowned international bloggers based in Hong Kong. The night consisted of tasty cocktails, delicious wines and amazing art! A lot of the night, we were wondering around the surroundings taking in the fabulous architecture. To date, it is one of my fav hotels I’ve discovered, so if you don’t know where to find me....

I do love my print....

Yesterday evening for the second time I attended the fabulous HK Fashion Bloggers’ Monthly Meetup event hosted by Jasmine Webster. This month’s guest sponsor was Hair Konnections, right up my street, as many of you know I am defiantly one for changing and experimenting with my hair dos! So in true Nicki Minaj style I opted for this fierce animal print hair piece.....very me n'est pas?

And all that Jazz....

The Jazz Age (music, dance and fashion) started in the 1920s, it saw the end of the great depression. Jazz played a significant part in wider cultural changes during that period, and its influence on pop culture continued long afterwards. The Great Gatsby, the Charleston dance, and Ray Charles all depictions of the 1920’s. As much as I love dance, film and music, It is the dramatic change in women’s fashion that took place during this period which I love the most. So when the guy and I went to a Jazz bar last night, I decided to emerge myself in the fashion and style.
The most iconic 1920s fashion was of course the flapper style, which became popular in the mid 1920s, alongside that, the drop waist dress, was very admired, often heavily beaded with a scalloped hemline. This era is where the Mary-Jane’s made their debut. The accessory that ruled in the 20’s was of course, pearls and lots of them, made famous by a certain Coco Chanel. To complete the look a close fitting headpiece or feathers were worn around the forehead. Some women also wore shrugs and long white gloves.
Millie did it so well last year in Made in Chelsea’s 1920’s party.
To ultimately finish the look of course you had to have wavy hair and red lips, re-applied at regular intervals!
The guy and I really enjoy stepping back a few decades, and I got to listen to one of my favourite instruments the sax!

Half naked men in HK

Last week I was wondering around central, minding my own business, turned the corner to Pedder Street, and I was pleasantly surprised. There was a sea of hot semi naked guys dressed in only red shorts, they were waving to the crowd of happy people, mainly women… of course I waved back not to be rude. Along with all the other females, I had a big grin on my face, and had my camera out to capture this.....
Abercrombie & Fitch Grand opening is Saturday, August 11 at 11am sharp at the historic Pedder Building in Central....see you there :-)

Shoe Spree

So last week I was a bit naughty and brought two pairs of gorg shoes, my justification was they were on sale and they have been exactly what ive been looking for: a crème pair of strapies from Mango, and some very high Burberry Prorsum esk style wedges for the great British shop M&S! Both shoes are so comfortable for trailing the streets of HK :-)

Let the games begin....(London 2012)

Where has the time gone… today London will host the Olympic Games for the third time, the only city to do so. When the last Olympic Games took place in London in 1948, Omega was there as the Official Timekeeper, and this will be the same for 2012. As most of you know, I am no longer in London anymore, guess I can’t time these events to fit into my schedule, should have got an Omega watch instead,of my Marc Jacobs one! Despite not being in my home town, Hong Kong is most definitely fully representing London 2012. A home a way from home. People rocking the t-shirts in the street, shop windows, underground station promotions and designers showing their support.
On a fashion note. Giorgio Armani, who has designed the Olympic team’s official kit, recently declared that London 2012 would be “the most fashionable Olympic Games ever”.
Ultimately, though, what every nation is striving for at these Games isn’t fashion kudos, but medals…..I feel very patriarchal at the moment, and will stay up till 4am HK time to watch the opening ceremony later …Go GB!!

The Elements

This weekend I encountered, The elements: water and air. Saturday night, the boy and I along with another couple, went to the Ritz Carlton's Ozone bar. Ears popping whilst in the lift we stopped at the 118th floor, faced with the element air the views were insane, pictures just don’t do it justice!
On Sunday afternoon aboard a beautiful yacht, I soaked up the blazing Hong Kong heat, on the sundeck, sipped on perseco and champs and tried my hand at jet skiing. I clearly still need a lot more practise though as I fell in the sea (water) twice. It was still sooo much fun! Watching the sunset at South Bay followed by delicious seafood at Lamma Island, I had a brilliant Sunday.
Cant wait to come across the elements again!

Poker Face

Hope you all had a great weekend. The guy and I did, we took a ferry to Macau for the night- they call it the Las Vegas of Asia. With all the glitz, bling and glamour this country was definitely NOT understated, the bigger, brighter the better. We arrived at our grand hotel, walked around the town for the afternoon, then headed back to get ready for the night ahead. In the spirit of the place, we dressed up to match the occasion. I was wearing a long black evening gown with an overly blingy black and gold bolero. The guy was wearing smart grey trousers, with a tapered burgundy shirt. We arrived at the two biggest casinos on the island, which can only be described as 007 Casino Royale- like. The Galaxy and The Venetian, were extravagant and not for the faint hearted, there was lights and action around every poker table corner. We placed a few bets on the roulette, tried our hand on the slot machines, ate decadent cake and rolled back to our hotel in the wee hours of the morning. Was great fun! I would definitely go again, and hopefully have a luckier hand.

HK Fashion Week & Landmark Summer Party

This week KemiStyle (me) attended Hong Kong Fashion week, held at the conference & exhibition centre in Wan Chai boasting beautiful views of HK. I treated myself to a gorg Alexander McQueen inspired tan & gold leather bracelet.
Last night I attended my first Menswear fashion event in HK, it was really enjoyable, made great contacts, saw fabulous clothes, and put hairs on my chest with whisky tasting!
