Fashion in Feb

Hello Followers, I must apologise for the fact I haven’t written a blog in over 20 days which is so unlike moi- it has been the most busy time for me, which is never a bad thing so I can not complain, plus fashion week is in full motion.
First and foremost, I must pay tribute to the late Alexander the Great, I mean McQueen. He was truly one of the best designers, our country had ever seen- RIP.

The department store Debenhams have had 3 big changes in recent weeks, and as I am an instore personal shopper, the changes haven’t gone unnoticed.

Firstly When I heard that Principles was coming back I was quite excited, finally I could get black trousers that fit perfectly again- was the first thing that sprung to mind. I always loved the classy, sophisticated daywear that the brand was known for. However knowing that Ben de Lisi is now at the helm has only fuelled my enthusiasm. Ben has such a passion for design it can only do wonderful things for the collection and he’s put in some modern twists too to keep things fresh and interesting. Debenhams have already seen a great positive response from the brand, within the first few weeks. I certainly have sold quite a number of garments!

Last week, Debenhams also welcomed H by Henry Holland through their doors. The fashion pieces available are definitely Henry’s famous prints and bright colours as well as exclusive bags and accessories. The collaboration can only do great things for Debenhams and Holland is:
“Thrilled to be on a roster with such esteemed names and to be working with such a great business partner as Debenhams”

The third most inspirational change for Debenhams is that Debenhams has become the first department store to use size 16 mannequins in its shops, in an attempt to have models that reflect the shape of real women in Britain. With the average women a size 14-16, in the Uk- using size 16 mannequins in the window display, is definitely more obtainable in comparison to the size 8 models used prior. Garments are stocked up to size 26 in its womenswear department, which 42 per cent of its sales coming from size 14 and 16.

Initially only a handful of size 16 mannequins will appear, but Debenhams insisted that if customers liked the idea they would ensure more were used.
As it is good to have mannequins that reflect the diversity of female shapes in Britain. As the old saying goes- Bigger- Better- Beautiful!
